TWO VINEYARDS … ONE PASSION
Created in 1994 in Morocco in the region of Essaouira, four years were necessary to clear, de-stone, dig, wells and gradually plant the vineyard, build the cellar, its buildings to realize the property.
Backing onto the desert and benefiting from the trade winds, the DOMAINE DU VAL D’ARGAN is the first and only Moroccan vineyard exclusively dedicated to grape varieties from the Rhône valley.
All the diversity, the richness of the Rhone vineyards can be found today magnificently represented in southern Morocco, a new land of great wines.
In twenty years, the vineyard has grown from five to fifty hectares and thirteen grape varieties from the Rhône valley are represented there.
The cellar has a traditional vat room and an efficient thermoregulation system that allows me to vinify each wine at the optimum temperature.
The annual production is of the order of 1,500 hectoliters or 200,000 bottles, stored in a magnificent cellar in Essaouira.
An underground cellar, where 300,000 bottles can be stored, as well as an underground cellar where 40 barrels are housed for the aging of VAL D’ARGAN and ORIAN ROUGE.
Backed by the vineyard, a restaurant, run by Rahma, mother of great Moroccan cuisine, originally from Essaouira. Meals are traditionally Moroccan dishes suitable for wine tasting.
A buffet of five wines at discretion, from the Pearl family, accompanies lunch.
Also guest rooms of traditional construction in stone, lime and wood.
